Third Quarter Outline
Using the information you gathered in the first semester for an engineering structure (or research a new structure if you want), provide proper references for each piece of information. Divide your essay into 5 sections of your choice (for example: History, Importance, Materials, Features …
Within each section write your own sentences (don’t copy and paste) and give a proper reference for where you got the information from. Write at least 60 words for each section. Use at least 5 references including at least 1 book, 1 web page, and 1 engineering journal article. At least 3 references must be from English sources.
The outline is due NOV 13.
EXAMPLE OUTLINE (This example has only 3 references. You need 5. Also you need to write in sentence form and write 60 words per section; so 300 words for the essay.)
PROPER REFERENCE STYLE
Write the reference section exactly like this;
BOOKS: Author’s last name, first initial. (Publication date). Book title. Additional information. City of publication: Publishing company.
Example: Allen, T. (1974). Vanishing wildlife of North America. Washington, D.C.: National Geographic Society.
JOURNALS: Author’s last name, first initial. (Publication date). Article title. Periodical title, volume number(issue number if available), pages.
Example: Harlow, H. F. (1983). Fundamentals for preparing psychology journal articles. Journal of Comparative and Physiological Psychology, 55, 893-896.
WEB PAGES: Author’s last name, first initial. (Date of publication). Title of work. Name of web site. Retrieved month day, year, from full URL
Example: Devitt, T. (2001, August 2). Lightning injures four at music festival. The Why? Files. Retrieved January 23, 2002, from http://whyfiles.org/137lightning/index.html
